| Artecoll |
|
Artecoll is used in cosmetic plastic surgery as permanent soft tissue filler which is later injected under the skin to plump up wrinkles and reduce folds of skin associated with aging. These folds include the nasolabial fold that runs from the corner of the nose to the edges of the mouth. It is used to treat and remove the facial lines, enlarge lips, fill in facial imperfections, and diminish nasolabial folds through a series of tiny injections under the skin's surface. It fills in the depression, raising the skin to its normal height. |

| Time Required |
| Entire treatment time needs about 20 minutes. It is not a time consuming task. |
|
| Side Effects |
| After the surgery, minor swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness or itching lasts 1 to 2 days. Other allergic reactions are rare. Thin skin may temporarily lighten. Injected area may initially feel harder, but will soften again after the growth of the new connective tissue. |
|
| Recovery Time |
| The treatment is fast, minimally painful, and thus easy to recover from. After the procedure or the surgery, the patients can easily walk back to the normal routine. |
|
| Risks |
| The several risks involved with this surgery include formation of large lumps under the skin known as granulomas that are developed after Artecoll injections. The lumps are nothing but the reaction to the injections. It can be difficult for the doctors to treat these lumps. |
|
| Technology |
Artecoll is a procedure containing series of tiny injections directly injected under the skin’s surface, at the subdermal level. The amount injected depends on the depth and the size of the wrinkle. After a doctor makes the injections at the desired area, the microspheres are spread and molded with the fingertip to assure an even, subdermal distribution. All microspheres will be totally and evenly distributed by a fine, fibrous capsule with minimal inflammatory reaction. Final results are visible in about 3 months.
