Breast augmentation is a cosmetic surgery that is meant to increase the size of the small breasts. In young women, the breasts may remain small due to underdevelopment of the glands, owing to some genetic reasons. In grown up women, breasts lose their volume due to multiple pregnancies and repeated lactation. With advancing age also the breasts become small and start sagging. | Technology |
The procedure involved for the augmentation of the breast consists of insertion of a silicone bag under the breast or under the breast and chest muscle. A small incision is given in the armpit, through the areola or at the bottom of the breast where the breast meets the chest. Later this silicon bag is filled with salt water. This prosthesis expands the breast area to give a fuller breast, give a better contour, and give more cleavage. This way, it is easy for the women to have firm looking breasts.
In another procedure, silicon bags are implanted and these bags are filled with a silicon gel.
