Scar revision
Scar revision is a surgical procedure in which plastic surgeon tries to make that scar less obvious and improves its appearance. It also improves the function of that part of the body.
There are 3 types of scars Keloid scar which are thick, itchy and these scars are being generated by excessive collagen produced by the body. These are more likely to develop in the earlobe, along the border of the jaw, the shoulder and the skin over the breast bone.Another type is Hypertrophic Scars – these scars look like keloid scars except the fact that they tend to remain within the boundaries of the wound or incision. Last type is Contractures are usually common after burns and are also referred to as Burn Deformity.
Scar revision is done on the patients having any of above type on any part of the bodythat impairs function of that part or restricts movement.
