Thread Lift
The thread lift procedure uses a barbed suture, in which threads are used to lift sagging eyebrows and eyelids, those furrows between your nose and the corners of your mouth or aging neck tissues. It is used to grasp the tissues and elevate them. Because tissues are not being separated from each other and there is much less lifting of the skin, postoperative swelling and bruising are markedly reduced. Your surgeon would use a thin needle to insert the sutures under the facial tissues. The barbs on one end of the thread grab and lift the sagging skin, and the teeth on the other end anchor the skin to the underlying facial tissues. Neither scars are produced nor stitches required. There are two types of thread lift procedure- the Contour Thread lift and the Feather Lift. The Contour Threads are unidirectional and fixed in the area of initial access. The Feather lift is also known as Aptos Threads which are bidirectional.

Details

Time Required
Length of the entire procedure will depend on the total number of threads used. Approximately, this procedure takes 2 to 3 hours.
Side Effects
Side effects are tenderness or numbness and slight asymmetry.
Recovery Time
Recovery takes approximately less than 1 week. The patient can resume to normal activity after that.
Risks
A significant risk of the thread lift procedure is that you may not notice any improvement. It may also result in some swelling, bruising, thread rupture, skin irregularities, asymmetries, puckering and infection.
Technology
The surgeon will use instruments under the skin to create a raw surface so that when the sutures are pulled up, the lift is more likely to remain in the appropriate position. The surgeon will make small incisions in key locations and insert a threaded needle to lift the subcutaneous tissue and suspend the lift with the thread. The barbs on these threads will lock in place and encourage collagen formation upon insertion to lift very specific areas. No stitches are required, and no scars are produced. Additionally, barbed sutures can be used as an adjunct to a more traditional facelift.
Cost Involved
Thread lifts can cost from $2,000 to $2,500.
Insurance Covered
Because of the cosmetic nature of Thread Lift, insurance is not involved.
Patient Status
OutPatient - In most cases
Reffered As
It is also known as the “lunchtime facelift” or “weekend facelift”
Discomforts
Discomfort of thread lift is mild. The person might just experience some pain in the area.
Combine With
Thread Lift can be combined with anti-wrinkle injections, facial peels or laser treatments to improve skin texture, or neck liposuction to further improve facial contours.
